Burberry - London Fashion Week

As part of a competition my university held, I was lucky enough to be one of the chosen few who attended Burberry's AW16 collection at London Fashion Week
And trust me, I can't believe I just said that.

The atmosphere was quite unlike anything I've ever experienced before, A mass of photographers frantically running around trying to get the best shot, fans waiting to see if they could catch a glimpse of their favourite celebrities. This resulted in me having my first experience of being 'papped' (poor people must've be gutted when they realised I was a nobody), which was slightly terrifying and strangely amusing at the same time, with my hair blowing in every direction possible, my massive umbrella probably taking up most of the shot.
(That being said, if you see me photo-bombing any photos from the day, do let me know!)

my look for the day

Staying true to myself, I was running super late. I was cutting it really fine, having about 5 minutes to spare before the show started. Luckily I still made it, along with about 20 other people who were probably having the same train of thought. I finally managed to grab a spot at the back, completely in awe of the atmosphere, the presence of the runway and the back wall of camera lenses staring back at me. The cherry on the cake was being offered a seat as someone has failed to show up, sitting nonetheless behind supermodel Erin O'Connor.

The show itself was thrilling and completely mesmerising. There wasn't a single piece that I did't love, or didn't think I would wear myself. Above everything, I enjoyed the distinct British feel you always get from Burberry, the carried on through to Jake Bugg performing alongside the show (who was amazing live!)

The show ended, I left quickly in order to not get caught up in the sheer volume of people leaving, and take my place nearby to see who else I could spot. After being papped again, I was able to see a few of my blogging inspirations (e.g. Susie Bubble, InTheFrow), alongside the biggest number of 'celebrities' I've ever seen in such a short space of time, including Anna Wintour, Mario Testino, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Ellie Goulding, Alexa Chung, Lily Donaldson and Tali Lennox to name a few.

oh hey Naomi

BEST. DAY. EVER.

This definitely won't be my last fashion week!

Berlin Fashion Week

Along with some other students from my university, I flew out to Berlin to attend Berlin Fashion Week from 18th-21st January. Berlin is such a beautiful and creative city, somewhere I would definitely consider going back to in the future.

Although we weren't able to attend any of the proper catwalk shows, we visited a number of trade shows and talked to designers/press etc (and is always great for free swag), including, Seek, Bright, Premium and Fashion Tech.
(Also, the after parties are GREAT)

Aside from the trade shows, we were able to visit many of the city's concept stores, as well as the more tourist-y activities, such as visiting the Berlin wall, Checkpoint Charlie and the TV tower. My favourite thing we did was attending the Borros Bunker, a private contemporary art exhibition in an disused Nazi bunker.

Overall, Berlin is a great place to be if you're creative (although be prepared for the cold), with good food, and such positivity everywhere!

My Top 5 Reasons To Be A Kardashian

Love them, hate them, or you don’t really care about them except for ‘that one with the famous rapper”, the Kardashian girls are everywhere our heads turn. It seems the world just cannot get enough of them, documenting their every move, whether there’s truth to it or not. Like most young girls my age, I have succumbed to Kardashian fever, and I can’t say I’m complaining. So, after much intelligent conversation and deliberation, here are my top 5 reasons why being a part of this famous family might not be as bad as people think…

1.    Make-Up on point all day, err’ day

You only need to take a quick look on Instagram to see the sisters being fierce every second of the day. Before you know it, you’re sitting in front of your computer trying to re-create every known Dash contour tutorial on Youtube. Without Kimmie K, who knows what dire straits our cheekbones would be in?! If only we had our own MUAs to follow us around… We wanna be them, and we’re not ashamed!

2.    Total life security

On a more serious note, imagine how much of a comfort it must be to have almost  total security in every aspect of your life. Everyone wants to be your BFF (albeit not always for the right reasons), job offers are coming in left, right and centre, and money seems to be a never ending fountain. As materialistic as it may be,  we can’t help but want our own piece of everything money can buy.

3.   All opportunities are ours

From a professional POV, you’d be insane not to be amazed at the sheer amount and diversity of the opportunities the Kardashian get to be a part of. They’ve created their own beauty ranges, launched apps and sock companies, have animated versions of themselves, own a chain of successful retail stores and have even appeared on DWTS. As a wannabe creative myself, I love having my interests scattered everywhere I can, so I for one am SUPER jel. Who wouldn’t want to add these bows to their string??

4.    The U S Of A

This one might be based on complete personal taste, but we are seemingly jealous of their lifestyle in the land of the free, as well as their never-ending travel.  The California life is something we all aspire to, having the best of the sun, sea & sand, giving us yet another reason to want to be the sixth sister.

5.    K-Dash love

We see each episode of KUWTK just how much this brood love each other. They always have each other’s back, against both themselves and the big wide world, and are renowned for putting their family first above everything else. Besides, in a family that big, they’ll always be someone to gossip with no matter how many of the others are fighting!
